Colorado marijuana laws

In 2000, Colorado voters passed Amendment 20 which allows patients with specific debilitating medical conditions to use marijuana with a physician’s recommendation. Since then a number of laws such as House Bill 1284 and Senate Bill 109 have been passed to regulate this new system and industry.

Medical Marijuana Patients in Colorado are allowed to carry up to 2 ounces of usable marijuana, and may grow no more than 6 plants. Patients usually purchase their medical cannabis from Medical Marijuana Centers or dispensaries. Caregivers are allowed to provide service for up to 5 patients, and are therefore able to grow up to 30 plants.
